A Sneak Peek Into Android’s Future

report

TechCrunch

Google is giving its apps and platforms, including Android, a big redesign, according to a recent report posted on Android Police which backs up some things we had been hearing as well, but hadn’t fleshed out until now.

According to the new report, Google is working on a new design language focused on giving all Google apps a more unified look-and-feel across the web, Android and iOS.

But these visual changes are only the beginning of what’s in store for Android, we’ve learned.

The Quantum Redesign

You can see where Google is headed, design-wise, by looking at the card-style layout of something like Google Now, for example, or this leaked screenshot of a revamped Gmail app and mobile website.

The Android Police post indicates that this new design framework is code-named “Quantum Paper,” which they describe as “a hugely ambitious project, looking to unify and codify paradigms for visual, motion, and interaction design across…

Google must remove list of websites around the world, Canadian court rules

report

Gigaom

Where does this stop?

Courts in Europe have been forcing Google(s goog) to scrub embarrassing search results, and now one in Canada has made an even broader ruling: it ordered the search engine to delete websites not only from the Canadian version of Google, but across the world as well. The decision is part of an alarming trend of disappearing online information.

The Canadian decision, in case you missed it, is about a company that is trying to stop a rival from selling network devices that it claims are the fruit of its stolen trade secrets. As part of its lawsuit, the company wants Google to remove all search results that link to the rival’s more than 300 websites.

In response, the Supreme Court of British Columbia issued a sweeping temporary injunction last week. The injunction matters because it will have a global effect; in less than 14 days, people in Canada will be no longer be able to find the websites in Google…

Butterfly Mind

I have a close friend, J, who has never met a mirror she didn’t like. When we were teens, and later in college, and her eye caught a reflective surface – a shop window, a car window, a mirror in a mall bathroom – she turned her head this way and that as she looked into it, smoothed an eyebrow, tucked a curl, and watched herself as she continued to talk, completely unselfconscious about her mirror-gazing as she carried on the conversation. We teased her about it then, and we tease her about it now, 25 years later. She laughs at herself when we tease her, then flits her eyes to a mirror and winks at the best friend she sees there.

This past March, at our annual Girls’ Weekend, we talked about mirrors and who among us looks into them. The conversation was spawned…

“Our soul, our true self, is the most mysterious, essential, and magical dimension of our being. In fact, it is not a separate reality, as traditional Western thought views it, but the cohesive force that unites our body, heart, and mind. It is not a ghost trapped somehow in the physical machinery of our body but the very essence of our being.” ~ Gabrielle Roth

This guided meditation is the fourth in a series of seven. Today’s meditation is aimed at helping you orient your conscious awareness to your beautiful Soul energy.

It will help align you to your Highest Expression of Self, making you more magnetic to positive energy, love and abundance in your daily life.

You’ll need to set aside about twenty minutes for this meditation. Sit or lie somewhere quietly, using pillows or blankets if needed to make yourself comfortable. Then simply close your eyes and follow…
